Can a cheap air filter damage my engine?

I have a 1.9 CDTi 150ps. I have found a air filter for £3.99, is this worth buying or a load of junk...... baring in mind i am going to change the cheap air filter every 3months or so since they are so dam cheap.

Provided that its the correct filter for the car, only a cheaper alternative then why not. it will probably break down quicker so changing every 3 months is ideal. Go for it.
