how can i test a 12v starter solenoid taken off a rider mower?

i just hear a clicking sound when I turn the key to start. The battery registers 13.6 v so i assume it is not the battery. I've taken the solenoid off and need to test it.
Put it back on the mower! If you hear it clicking and it doesn't crank, just take a screwdriver and jump the fire on the two big terminals. If it rolls over, change the solenoid. Usually the solenoid is bad. Most parts on riding mowers are junk

Alrighty, finished my essay but I can't vouch for it's quality. Turns out writing on the shift in the conditional nature of truth during the shift from oral to literate culture in ancient Greece is a harder topic than i had originally though. Mostly, very few people have written journal articles on the subject and google books is a lot more constrained than it used to be. Jerks. tried to hand it in but they had the building all locked up by 7:45pm today. I would have been there sooner but my car is broken again. Seems everyone but my father was correct and it is the transmission. Unfortunately, the "ark the solenoid" button has stopped working too and now it can't be started. At least we made it home, it stalled a few times and only the button could revive it but it is finally dead. Sad thing to happen especially since dad just had the starter repaired...
